UConn's Kimani Young Reflects on Big Apple Basketball
The two-time national champion coach discusses Big Apple Basketball’s role in the early stages of his career.



Storrs, CT — University of Connecticut Associate Head Coach Kimani Young recently reflected on Big Apple Basketball’s role in his coaching journey, calling it one of the first organizations that helped shape his path in the game.
“When I hear Big Apple Basketball, it’s one of the places I got my start in grassroots coaching,” Young said. “I’ve been part of every layer of Big Apple Basketball.”
A Queens native, Young was involved with Big Apple Basketball as both a player and coach, including the Unsigned Seniors Showcase and Big Apple Basketball Invitational, before building a distinguished collegiate career.
Since joining UConn in 2018, he has helped guide the Huskies to back-to-back national championships.
